GB/T 3811 "Code for Design of Cranes" is the most important and fundamental national standard in the field of lifting machinery in China. The first edition was born in 1983 and was drafted by the Institute of Crane Transport Machinery of the former Ministry of Machinery Industry and the Changsha Construction Machinery Research Institute of the Ministry of Urban and Rural Construction and Environmental Protection. It has won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. The second edition was released in 2008, led by the Beijing Institute of Crane and Transport Machinery, and organized the industry to complete the revision after 5 years, gathering the wisdom of hundreds of experts in the industry. It has won the second prize of the China Standard Innovation Contribution Award. Since its publication and implementation, this standard has been widely recognized and actively adopted by the industry, and has a high status and great influence in the lifting machinery industry. It has become an important technical basis for the production, use, inspection, and business cooperation of lifting machinery. It has played an important role in improving the design level and quality safety of cranes in China, promoting technological progress in the industry, facilitating international trade, cooperating with special equipment supervision, and reducing crane safety accidents. In order to further promote the improvement of standard level, incorporate new technologies, methods, and concepts, lead the industry's technological and equipment updates and upgrades, promote the safe, green, and intelligent high-quality development of the industry, and help China become a world strong crane manufacturing country, the industry has jointly studied and decided to revise the above-mentioned national standards. On the basis of extensive preparation work in the early stage, a grand kickoff meeting for the revision work was held, and the development of the third edition of GB/T 3811 was officially launched. At this meeting, many important consensuses were reached, and it was clearly stated that the revision of this national standard will focus on the latest design methods abroad, industry safety, green, and intelligent development, with high quality and high level. We will make every effort to provide the industry with a high standard, high-tech innovation, and high-level open crane design specification standard.
